The Engine Stand uses a 90 degree gear drive system worm drive. The worm wheel has a thru shaft which connects directly to the load bearing adaptors holding the engine. It connects directly to the crank handle, the 90 degree alignment of these two gears allows for reduced torque required when rotating the engine via the crank handle. It also has a reverse effect in that the worm gear prevents the load on the worm wheel from forcing rotation, holding the load secure at any point throughout the 360° rotation of the engine.
